Partigen 1.1 Update Now Available!
This is a significant refinement update, addressing numerous performance issues and quirks. This means there are no real amazing new features, but rather it has been refined, enhanced, and improved. This update is still AS2 only.
It is, of course, a free update to all users, and is now offered as a fully-functional 15-day trial.
Let's take a look at what's new:
- New Emitter UI components make emitters snappier and quicker to load up
- Emitter UI now has tooltips explaining meanings for controls (hover over labels to see)
- Library UI refinements galore: emitter position indicator, tool tips, and smoother transitions
- Twease engine replaces Fuse as the default tweening engine, decreasing file size by roughly 12k
- Emitter verification has been removed, making emitters quicker and saving 3k
A lighter and more efficient engine, and a faster, more intuitive UI, further refines Partigen to keep it the de facto particle solution for Flash.
So what are you waiting for? Update your existing projects to take advantage of the new improvements, or for those of you on the edge, take it for a spin before you buy.
What is Partigen?
Desuade Partigen is an extension for Adobe Flash which lets you create realistic vector and raster particle effects (such as fire, smoke, sparkles), without requiring you to do any complex coding.
Simply put, Partigen is the easiest way to create real-time particle effects for Flash, in Flash.
Every effect is generated in real-time and is fully dynamic – something that pre-rendered movies could never achieve. Since Partigen is an ActionScript 2.0-based engine, there is no video to import - every single particle is made from within Flash at run-time.
Who is Partigen for?
Partigen is for designers who know the basics of Flash, ActionScript 2.0 developers that live outside of the timeline, and everyone in-between.
You do not need to know anything but the most basic ActionScript, such as stop(), to be able to use the Partigen IDE. But if you do know a bit more ActionScript, you can really harness the true power of the engine with its extensive API.
So if you know your way around Flash, and are familiar with Flash's terms, you will be right at home with Partigen.
When should I use Partigen?
Partigen was designed to be able to work in almost all Flash situations: whether it be your latest animation hit, an award-winning website, addictive new game, advertisement campaign, or even just for fun. If you need a special effect, or some sort of particle effect, chances are you can do it with Partigen without ever opening up another application.
Where has Partigen been used?
Partigen has been spotted throughout the internet in the last few months on various high profile websites such as Kohls, Walmart, Powerade, and Namco Bandai. Watch or post on this thread on the forums for more!
How do I use Partigen?
There are basically 2 ways to use Partigen: using the set of IDE components, or through ActionScript.
The IDE has an emitter tool, the Partigen Library that holds all of your presets and available particles, the Partigen component itself that also holds your license information, and the emitter component that lets you configure all the settings for that emitter. Using all of these lets you create and configure emitters with almost no code – all visually in the Flash IDE.
Everything you can do in the IDE, plus much more, can be done with ActionScript. Creating and configuring emitters in AS is a breeze and lets you be fully dynamic during run-time. You also have access to functions and events that really let you interact with your particles. Using ActionScript, you can also interact with emitters you created via the IDE. No matter how you choose, there is truly no limit in how you can use Partigen.
Why use Partigen?
Simple: the name. How awesome does "Desuade Partigen" sound?
Alright, maybe there's a bit more to it than that. How about because it's the only complete, realtime particle creation suite available for Flash? Not enough? Well, we could tell you how it will save you hours of your precious time, how it will save you tons of money, and how easy it is to use, but we think it's better if you come to your own conclusion.
